Are you sure? I have a 8.25 with 29 spline. I bought a lunch box locker for 27 and it was to small.

Unless someone has swapped axles you have a 27 spline,The 29 spline didn't come out tll 97 when they changed the body style.

You also have a '97, the OP has a '94.

^^^^ WHAT HE SAID - Late 96 models some had a 29 spline axle, but anything older came with 27 spline.

Depending on what you are ordering, it either does not matter or may be a good reason to convert to 29 spline. Only the carrier & shafts are different.

I would not run that large of a tire on a 27 spline. 8.25 axles drum to drum are commonly available for $100 and shafts $50/set.

I agree with md21722 - I get 8.25 axles all the time for $100, and running 35's I would take the effort to upgrade 27 to 29 spline axle shafts.

Also I am not sure, but can't you just upgrade a 27 spline spider/side gears to a 29 spline spider/side gears or lunchbox and swap the better 29 spline axles in - no need to reset up gears or anything.

The carrier needs to be changed as well...

ahhhh took the effort for a little research, guess the bearings and races are different sizes as well (at least from what I read) - so just swap the whole axle is really the only choice.
