242j shift pattern question
ok maybe im wrong but i dont think i am
on a 242j transfer case in my 89 XJ the shift pattern is
2wd, normal 2 wheel driving
part time, for driving in 4 wheel off road
full time, for driving 4 wheel on/off road on loose pavement and hard normal 4x4
Neutral, when being towed
4low, 4 wheel low gear
i was told i have the full and part mixed up

full time is for snow also

they do but full time allows the slipage needed for street use...it techincaly is 2wd then when a wheel slpis then it sends power to others theat have grip vs the part tim it is sending power to the front and the rear. I like using the full time when in playin around in sand or driving along way in level dirt as it tends to keep the striaght .
