From an earlier thread of mine, i questioned a weird TC leak.
Per KenCC's advice the rear output shaft seal and slinger are now replaced with Mopar parts. Have to wait and see for a while if it fixes the leak.
However, i noticed the output shaft has some up/down, side to side play.
Searched but could not find a spec for this.
Before i pull out the dial indicator i need the spec to see if the rear output shaft bushing is worn out of tolerance. This TC has 327,000 miles on it.
Is there a spec? Where is it measured at?

in and out play wouldn't be an issue, but side to side is another story. probably a bearing on its way out. i was concerned about that too and it turned out to be the slip yoke of the rear driveshaft being dry and not greased. when trying to play with the shaft (lol) there was no side to side play, which was a relief.
my front output though, that's another story. it has a small play but my mechanic assured me it was "normal". I'd say as long as you don't have weird vibes when driving it should be fine, but if you have some and nothing works to fix them, well i think a rebuild or swapping it out would be a better solution.
oh yeah, definitely needs a rebuild!

Yeah it was rebuilt by a 'supposedly' reputable shop at around 290k miles. Around a couple thousand miles after the rebuild is when the TC started to leak bad.
Took it back to the shop a couple times and they couldn't figure out where the leak was coming from?
The rebuild didn't apparently include new shaft bushings.
Now its way past the warranty period!
In the meantime gonna wait and see if the new seal has any affect on the leak.
