23" Brake lines

1 Attachment(s)
Not sure if this is a tech question or a chat question but.....
I have a 4.5" short arm lift with 32's and want to disco my swaybar.
I already have the brake line extension brackets that come with the lift and have straightened out the line and relocated it.
The local auto parts store have a pair of 23" lines they say will work on my xj. Everyone says 95 yj lines will work but i don't know how long those are.
My question is will 23" lines be long enough when i disco my sway bar?

Here is a pic of it currently

Thanks

A stock XJ hose is 18 inches long so a 23 inch will gain you 5 plus the distance you gained by straightening out the steel line. I'm in the process of trying to find an alternate option for replacing the extended hose I ripped off recently because I do not want to spend $100 plus shipping on a new set.

Thats the same boat i am in, dont want to spend the money. He can ge these for 11 bucks a piece but when i say local i mean about 30 minutes away. so i didn't want to drive all the way to get them and they not be long enough

Flex out the front with the sway bar connected and see how much slack you have left (if any).

When you straighten out your brake line like that, do you have to use a brake line bender?

For cheep extended lines check out this thread

They said use early 90 chevy 1500 front brake lines. One guy said he runs them with 7 inches of lift with no problems.

Will i need brake line extensions for the front and rear with a 3" suspension or do you think i can get enough slack by straightening it.

Then an extra 5 inches will probably not be enough with the sway bar disconnected. I picked up a front hose for a Dodge 1500 4wd this evening to do some testing with. The fittings are the same sizes and it is 20 inches longer than stock. It will need some minor mods to mount it properly and if I can make it work I will do a write up on it soon.

No problem. So how do you straighten out the oem's? By hand or tool?

yup, 2wd model.

for rear flex line and e-brake cables, use from a yj. but get 2 right side e-brake cables.
