I have a 2001 xj limited but the door bottoms are rusting out. I want to buy a rust free junkyard door and paint to match.

most junkyard parts seem to be off sport models.

Would I not need a limited door to retain the mirror adjust?
or can i simply swap the door panel?

Use any door from a 97-01. Use your inner panel. And you would need to swap in your lock cylinder. Search around for one the same color first. Other difference is 97&98 used silver vinyl CHEROKEE decals. 99-01 used the raised aluminum look CHEROKEE decals. And your factory door probably has another decal that says LIMITED. A door from a sport will not have the LIMITED. It might even say SPORT instead.

Any '97 to '01 door will work. Locks will have to be swapped. What you will have to do will vary depending on the door. You will want to try and find power window doors to make life easier. Thinking manual window doors could be used and can be changed over to power windows. But not 100% sure. Chances are the molding on your Limited is painted to match the body color. Chances are what you will find will be the ones on Sports that are just gray. The badges will vary on the front doors from year to year so you will have to deal with that. You might find a door that has power mirrors but not heated. Just need to use your mirrors. Your interior door panels will be used. Also I am guessing your back door windows have a factory tint of some sorts. I never could get a handle on the tints. Seems like there might be two types. When you research it you see the words Privacy Glass and Tinted Windows. Giving me the impression that there might be 2 different percentages. So some swapping of windows from your doors to the boneyard doors might be required. Two things I recommend. Buy a tool like this:
