2001 XJ electronic issues - horn, brake lights and gauge lights

2001 XJ electronic issues - horn, brake lights and gauge lights
Today we got a 2001 XJ with a rebuilt title for pennys 
We have a few issues with the front end, but w.e... easy ****, just takes time.
The horn doesn't. The relay on the passenger side makes a click, but we replaced the relay with a known working one and it still clicked.
The back, driver side brake light doesn't work... all the other lights do. replaced bulb and nothing.
The gauge cluster has no lights at all. the odo is illuminated until the lights are turned on, but its darkness.
Checked all fuses and everything is good.
We don't have an ownsers manual for this year, so if anyone knows where I can get a PDF copy for a 2001 sport 4x4, it would be much appricated.
oh and **** wiring.
On a good note... the underbody has no rust
