2001 xj airbags
Looking at an 01, minor accident but deployed both airbags. Not having real good luck finding much on replacing them and was hoping someone has been down this road before?
Where to get them, how involved in replacing? I simply won't buy it if they can't be replaced and at an cost effective way.
Thanks

Thanks for the advice, I will do that. If the airbags are the easy part, where would I find them and get it all back together safely? I can do mechanic work, replaced transmissions, swapped motors and of course normal maintenance and repairs... just never messed with airbags and the limited Google search results left me wondering.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Since the airbags deployed, it was not a "minor accident". Contrary to what Hollywood depicts, it takes a 28 MPH+ hard hit, in the bumper area with a pretty good amount of deflection, with a specific sudden rate of quick deceleration, among many other events, to make them go off when striking another vehicle. A fixed, immovable barrier strike of about 14 MPH or more will usually trigger them.
When they go off in a unibody vehicle like the XJ, most of not all insurance companies will total the vehicle. Just replacing the airbag modules usually will not completely "fix" the vehicle and make it safe to use again. That's why you don't find much information.
Go look at another one. There are plenty of good Jeeps out there. Just watch out for cracked heads on 2000-01 models.
