2001 jeep xj running rough after tune up
okay i need help my jeep is an 01 cherokee sport its got 214k i got it at 200k figured id do a new set of plugs cuz when i would fire it up she would send a missfire cylinder 3 code and it would smooth out, put new plugs in. It runs like hell now its sending a po351 code now. Section A /B circut coil malfunction. so i put a new coil pack still runs like ****. i changed spark plugs to champions, then went to napa ones, and it had bosche in it so i took them out its got champion platnums in it now. ive heard that the pcm go's bad and causes all this coiil is new and crank sensor is new what yall think

Your best option for your 2001 is NGK coppers. You should definitely use those in the future. Did you make sure to gap the plugs correctly?
|
Did you check out the fuel system before the ignition?

Are your boots on correctly. When I did mine I didnt get one seated right and it gave a ticking sound. Looked at it and realized it wasn't on right.
Try that. |
Did you change the spark plug wires? Replace them if you have not....or at least check for cracks especially at the boot.
Make sure you have the wire in right firing order and the boots are fully inserted on the plugs. GL |
Make sure you didn't knock loose or break the wires on the connector on the injector.
If not, I'd say next step is a compression check. Be sure to block the throttle open when doing it, and use the same number of pulses (4-5) on each cylinder. That code definition - wrong! It does not have individual coils on each cylinder - it has 3 coils inside the rail, each one feeds 2 cylinders. It's very seldom when a bad coil only affects one cylinder - it kills both! It usually still runs smooth, just no power - 'cause now it's a 4 banger. Let us know what you find. |
i made sure the gap was right about two times lol, all the boots are on right, i even changed the coil pack set up no change, its got great compression, that was my next step for my injector but i got my misfire code to go away. i was readin on some of your forums and it leads me to belive its the pcm crapped out when i was doin the change i didnt disconnect the batery and i didnt wear rubber glove. some kind of eletrical charge from me changing the plugs killed my pcm. i called a guy online and told him what i did an he said i get a couple people a day that have this problem. thanks for all the infor guys great help

I have seen this code be related to the computer. I'd search for an inexpensive salvage yard PCM and swap it in.....
