2000 XJ not holding an AC charge

So my 2000 cherokee wont hold an AC charge, i think it might have something to do with the hoses being old. Are they hard to change, how much are they and what is a good brand?

I'm going to be honest. Your best bet is to take it to someone who specializes in AC repair. Someone who can find the leaks, fix them, evacuate the system and charge it properly.
AC repairs by non experts usually turn into a prolonged and expensive sh#t show.

Plus, it's not exactly a safe system to work on.

i had my A/C recharged 2 years ago,and it leaked away within 2 months,so it had to be a small leak..i found the high side shrader valve was leaking slowly,so i had the repaired and a recharge and all is now well,in fact i had the A/C on about 10mins ago as its quite warm here in England and its still ice cold.

What you need to do first is inject a dye to find the leak. To do the actual job of replacing parts is easy. The part of properly evacuating and filling is the tricky part That Red River eludes to. You'll need to buy evac pump and gauges to properly fill. I would get an estimate and go from there, cost of buying tools and learning ac charging, versus have pro do it.

Here is a dye kit as an example what you need to find a leak in ac. I have this kit and it works. I got one from ebay some time ago.

The dye kit is cheap and easy to do yourself. Start there and hope the leak isnt the evaporator core under the dash.

Which if we're looking at the odds, it probably is. That is where the leak was in my 2000 I had years ago, and where it was in the 98 I have now. If so, buckle on your workbelt, get a ton of ziploc bags, a sharpie and a 55 gal drum of patience before you start tearing the dash apart.

And......that would really suck. You have to take the dash apart clear down to the firewall.
