Front output seal? From the transfer case? I just had a shop install the rebuilt transfer case…

Go get your money back brother. They either used the wrong front output seal or they didn't apply any RTV to the threads of the pinion nut. If you didn't catch it, it would have sprayed out all of its oil, locked up and exploded.

Can't trust a single shop anymore...

You can tell it was their first time rebuilding a transfer case. Look at the insane amount of RTV used to seal the case halves. Those are machined sealing surfaces that require the tinniest angel hair bead to seal the case. I would bet my life that there is a rats nest of RTV swimming inside of that case right now.

I agree! Also where I work we manufacture diffs and few years back we had to dissemble 1500 diffs because of too much sealant and the engineers were afraid if it was hanging off on the inside not only could breaking loose but causing the oil to foam guessing due to the way the oil wold be churning (?) Sounds logical I guess and it's something else to think of as I'm sure same logic applies to the transfer case.

Very sloppy use of sealer, unprofessional. makes me doubt the entire rebuild was done correctly. plus it is pissing oil out the shaft seal.
junk rebuild. return that junk pile for full refund, sue them if they refuse. Buy from a better rebuilder that knows what they is doing.
what you got there is junk. leaking oil, crappy sealer on the case. image what amount of sealer got squeezed the other direction, inside the case.
What else they get wrong? Heck this one is so bad it failed while still under warrentee ( I hope ) rather than what they planned on, i.e. failure day after warrentee expires

Give them hell for that junk they sold you. Accept no excuses, full refund, sue them if they give you guff.

good luck

I spent a **** load of money with this shop trying to get me back on the road. Drove straight home in rain, next day I attempted to go into the hills and noticed my oil gauge floored so I started checking things out and that’s what I found. Now it’s the weekend and next week is a short week because of thanksgiving, I probably won’t get to go out hunting because of this crap!! If I demand a refund they took my old transfer case, what the hell do I do?
