2000 XJ Cutting out
My jeep has recently been losing power. I have a loss of power at speed usually around 3k rpms and 75mph but it did just turn off yesterday when coming to a stop at roughly 35 mph, i pulled over and it immediately restarted. It's as if the fuel pump turns off randomly and then restarts. Everytime before or during when it cuts out, my speedometer fluctuates wildly leading me to believe that there must be a short somewhere in the circuit for the VSS(there's currently no speedometer gear installed so I know it's not a bad gear). It has been progressively getting worse. I have already changed the clockspring due to having an airbag light and a nonfunctional horn. I have visually inspected the wiring harness multiple times and cleaned all of the grounds in the engine bay. I have verified the 5v reference signal to the TPS since replacing the clockspring. I did notice once that i had lost the 5v reference signal to the MAP sensor but the jeep had continue to run normally. I could not figure out what caused the signal to come back. I'm just not sure where else to look or what specific circuits may be interacting with either the fuel pump or the coil and also interact with either the speedometer or the VSS circuit. I do not believe it is the Crankshaft position sensor because the rpm gauge continues to read normally when the symptom occurs. I'm hesitant to think it's a faulty PCM.
I'm open to any and all suggestions, thanks

I suppose i did leave some information out, there is currently no DTC's. I had inspected the speedo gear whenever i saw that the speedometer was acting erratically and found that the teeth were slightly damaged, i have a new one but have not reinstalled it.
You are making this problem more complex than it is. Power loss at high speed and rpm is more than likely poor fuel delivery. Ignore the other symptoms until you resolve the power loss issue.
First thing to check is fuel pressure at idle and then under the high rpm failure conditions you describe.

I agree with this ^^^. No codes and loss of power.. Fuel pressure test would be my first thing to check.

Definitely replace that speedometer gear and then start chasing the loss of power. Fuel system would be my first guess if the problem persists. I know the computer uses vehicle speed and engine rpm to control shifting. Your torque converter may not be locking up at highway speeds without it.
