2000 XJ- Cracked Exhaust Manifold: What Would You Do?
2000 Cherokee Sport 4.0L 125,000 miles.
Exhaust Manifold Crack
(low- not at Cyl.Head)
...Could this have been caused by pressuring washing w/engine running?
I believe this is the cast design.
What is the recommended replacement?
1) MoPar OEM (expensive?)
Is there a better steel version from MoPar?
2) Aftermarket OEM style replacement?
Any better than MoPar?
3) Aftermarket Header?
Cheaper/Better durability than Cast?
Brand/Style/Source?
Mechanic friend said he'd replace mine for $160 labor.
I replaced one on a '90 Cherokee and this was not a fun job
(replaced OEM cast manf. w/Pacesetter Header).
Thanks for your input!

I'd recommend you have a good muffler shop do it. When/if a bolt snaps off, they'll have a better chance of fixing it than you.
I've got the same problem with an F350 V10 right now. It's going to the shop later this week because I'm about 100% sure one or more bolts will shear off and they've got lots of experience dealing with it - probably see one a month on V10's alone.

Did some research on this issue...
2000-2001 Cherokee (XJ) Exhaust Manifold
New design; 2-piece (frt/rr). Cannot use earlier design (diff. Cyl.Head)
Not much available aftermarket (headers).
There are OEM style cast replacements available...
Dorman... $219ea+
Jeep4x4 Center.... $199ea
ExtremeTerrain... $129ea
or used...
