i have a 2000 xj 4.0 that has a lurching problem on at start up when engine cools. i will get off work or wake up and start the jeep then take off. it will sound like its trying to cut off then it will lurch forward a few times. after that it will works fine after that and idles fine. until i shut the jeep off and let it sit.

ive cleaned the iac, throttle body and replaced the spark plugs and also did a once over for vacuum leaks (found 1 but fixed it).

any help would be appreciated, would like to fix this issue before winter.

 

Does it start normally? Then begin to do this after a few minutes of driving?

 

if i start it and let it sit. it will make sputtering noises and shake like its bogging out. but once you get it moving and let lurch or rev the engine enough it will idle fine. seems to be only doing it on a cooled down engine.
