2000 XJ 4.0L Engine Knock

So when I start up the ol girl there is an engine knock, almost sounds like a rod knock but when the engine warms up it goes away. I've been searching for the culprit but came up empty handed. Any and all "2-cents" would be appreciated.

I've never really heard of knocking going away once warmed up. How loud is this "knock'?

Probably a stuck lifter.

try this. Next time it does it, shut the engine off and wait 10 seconds. start it back up. What happens? "Knock" gone?

What brand oil filter are you using?

Just put new oil in and filter on both are Mobile 1 high milage 10w 30. I'll have to see if letting her run, shut er off, and fire her back up to see if it stops.

Any luck?
