2000 radio sound quality

I have a stock radio and speakers in my 2000 XJ sport. I don't like the sound quality. I just need some advice if I need to get a new radio, or can I just replace the speakers to get better quality sound, or both?

I tried looking for a 1.5 din radio and not much comes up either.

When I replaced my head unit with an aftermarket unit, the sound quality increased significantly. When I replaced the speakers, obviously it sounded a lot better again.

One thing I would not do is just replace your speakers. Many people have issues, because aftermarket speakers are often higher powered than what your stock deck is able to put out, and they sound like garbage. Aftermarket units also generally have much better audio processors.

thanks. I'll look into getting a head unit first.... I was also looking at used and new oem infinity head units on ebay, just because they are the 1.5 din size.
