Default 2000 Climate Control Vent Issue

My A/C and Heat work fine...but only through the defrost vents. The switch turns on and off but does not blow the air through the upper and lower vents...only defrost vents.

Any suggestions? Thank you!

Yea its usually a vacuum leak somewhere that causes this. I just fixed mine and it was due to the one way valve being backwards on the intake that leads to the HVAC and vacuum ball.

Were you able to replace the vacuum tube yourself? Know where I can get some instructions on how to do that?

Thank you!

Hey all I joined this forum for this same problem only mine is blowing ac out the defrost and dash vents. Seems the air control flaps? aren't closing completely to seal the air flow from going through the defrost vents. I think the vacuum road is the right one to go down but how and where do you check this? Could just be a loose or leaking line? I'm on a need to know search.

I have the same issue. My vents have been blowing out some black foam.

Just fixed mine. Found a small hole in the vacuum line.

Default AC Issues

I'd say 90% of the time it's a vacuum issue. As far as the foam goes, thats a dry rot problem caused from age and climate and usually not worth the fix.
