2000 Cherokee runs/starts great or rough

Hi!
Need help...my 2000 Cherokee Sport 4.0L has the following problem.

A) Starts right up and runs great
B) Starter just clicks, finally starts (3-4th try) and then runs like crap.

My guess is it electrical since the start and performance are related. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

How long since you've had a tuneup? I'd start there

Have your battery load tested. Check grounds, connections etc. My bet is on bad battery though because of the cold weather setting in.

Simple stuff first. Always....

1. Remove battery cables and clean those and the battery posts until SHINY.

2. Have your battery "load tested". Any parts store will do this for you for free. Load testing is the only conclusive way of determining battery condition.

3. Freshen engine grounds. Can't tell anything by looking at them. Disassemble, clean thoroughly and reconnect.
