2 door, looking for window gaskets and leak repair.
Hey forum, I picked up a crusty 1995 2 door and the windows leak. I want to replace all of the rubbers. From the gasket around the doors and trunk, to the side windows, rear quarter windows (mine are the popout kind..), windshield, and back window. I've been struggling to find window gaskets for a 2 door? I was hoping I could get some information here. I also noticed I have water running down from the firewall when I washed the Jeep, going down into the foot wells and soaking everything. I think if I seam seal inside of the cowl it should fix it? But I was curious about what others have done, or if there's something specific that makes it leak.

Are you sure it's the cowl and not the windshield? That's the standard place for a windshield leak to wind up.
BleepinJeep has a video on YouTube about how to replace the glass. Nothing on the front windshield, but he does cover the back and sides. |
The windshield is leaking, and I'm able to find gaskets for that. When I spray over the cowl there is definitely water coming in from there. I've replaced glass before, I just cant find any replacement gaskets for the quarter windows and doors very easily

Mine's is a 95 also. If you have leaking windshield keep in mind is not only the gasket as you can see. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...6d4d57c470.jpg Also check the antenna grommet ,mine was leaking fron there too. I'm still finding more leaks after I repair one. New one came from the roof drain rails in the passenger side. |

But if a hose test says it's leaking at the cowl, I would say it's time to do some noggin-pokin in there. Take the cover off. |
Hey guys, thanks for the responses. I'm sorry I got back to this so late, I am just finally starting to feel okay after surgery on Wednesday.
I fixed the gromet going to the hood release. (Which, that release mech is very hard to pull and handle sticks out after open?) Right now the game plan is to fix some rust in the trunk area around the filler, and then seam seal inside of the cowl. We are going to cut open the dimple/stamp on the passenger side of the cowl for better access. I am also going to remove the roof rack and seal up the holes there. Eventually and hopefully sooner rather than later so I don't have to take the interior apart AGAIN, I am going to bedline(lizard skin instead?) the interior which should also help seal things up. |
Two good sources for door/glass weatherstrips, moldings and other rubber parts. Precision also has windshield molding clips.

On my ’91 the heater box drain is a rubber tube located under the area where the heater hoses and AC tubes go through the firewall, just behind the emissions canister. Regarding hood release, make sure the cable is not getting pinched under the driver side hood hinge when the hood is closed. |
