Default 2.5l 4 banger axles

Hey guys,

Got a 2000 4.0 AW4 XJ rocking 31's and a 3 inch lift.
I wanna regear to 4.10 but obviously don't want to pay mega bucks if I don't have to.
Found some 2.5l 4 banger axles, pretty rare round my neck of the woods, haven't seen pics of them yet, guy gonna send them later - Just got a couple questions for those guys that know about em:
- Did the 4 banger axles come in D35c and C8.25 at the back?
- Is it guaranteed to have 4.10 ratio, or do some have 3.55?
- Are the internals (bearings, seals, axle shafts etc) the same as regular axles from the 4.0? I've heard they have weaker internals that are hard to come by, true or false?
- Do the have the same bolt patten?

Basically any differences between 4 banger axles and regular 4.0 axles, other than the gearing?

Thanks!

The bolt pattern is the same and I am pretty sure they will have 4.10 gears. The front axle is the same Dana 30 that's in all the XJs, the rear is probably a Dana 35 which is junk.

And no, not guaranteed to be 4.10s.

I got a D35 already, so won't be downgrading at least!
My rig is a daily driver weekend warrior, nothing crazy. I'll be on 31's probably for the foreseeable future, so I'm ok with D35 and D30 - I'm looking for a cheap way to get deeper gearing, without pouring money into my axles.
Got loads of mountains around, so loosing power on the uphill sucks, also 3.55 gears with 31's is doable on the trail, but steep decents suck and so does spinning the wheels trying to get up stuff.

@cruiser54 There should be a tag with the gearing on right? Or do I need to check serial numbers?

My main concern is that the internals are the same as a regular D35c and D30 as I don't want drama trying to find bearings, seals etc for these axles if need be.
I don't live in the states, so XJ parts are a bit more tricky to find in general, if these axles have their own specialised internals, finding parts for them here (in South Africa) will be impossible.

Yes, they have tags or should have. Worst case pull the covers. Wouldn't be a bad idea to look at the gears and verify the ratio anyway.

You'll be fine. And yes, they have tags.
