You could get a really good 3" kit for less than $1000. Check out Rubicon Express, lots of people seem to like the quality. I have a skyjacker but its pretty old now, so I am looking at getting a new one, probably RE. Depending on the year you have you may need a Slip Yoke Eliminator to ruduce driveline vibration. When you do get a lift get the full leaf packs, try and stay away from the Add-a-leaf.

I'd just go with a 3" but I'm a big fan of smaller lifts and making the jeep more trail survivable. Rubicon Express is pretty good, Rough Country is cheaper but I hear they ride rough. Any larger than 3" you are looking at extra costs, SYE w/new drive shaft, different control arms. I'd search all online dealers like www.quadratec.com, www.rustysoffroad.com, www.bds-suspension.com, and do quite a bit of searching here and on www.naxja.org forums. There is tons of info on all these sites. Those are just a couple of examples of some sites. Old Man Emu is also an excellent lift, its expensive but the quality is really high. I'd go with the Rubicon Express, just because of the reviews they get from everyone.

i agree. 3.5in on 31's is a great trail jeep / daily driver. If you want go anything under that, like the 2 inch range, probably just blocks and spacers would be fine. anything over the 4 inch range will be great on the trail, but more expensive to build and your going to need more parts to keep it driving straight on the road.

Rough Country is the way to go not used...
Standard 3" kit new leaf packs $509
http://roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_3.html
Series II 3 w/ new leaf packs $609
http://roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_3x.html

All plus about $70 shipping. If you call them directly and talk to Jason and tell him you heard about em from this site you will likely get a better deal.

The key to a smooth riding lift is the quality of the shocks. You can buy any lift but cheap shocks equate to a rough ride. If it was me I would contact Jason at Rough Country and get a price on the Series 2 3" lift kit without shocks. Then buy some nice Bilstein shocks and you will get a very nice ride. I will stress to not buy cheap shocks, the ones with RC, Rustys and some others that are white are cheap shocks and they will ride like crap.

I wouldn't buy Rusty's since you can get an RC for about the same price and IMHO a better company to deal with and shipping is way cheaper.

If that's the case then get the RC lift with their shocks and call it a day. Buying a lift isn't complex, you buy what you can afford and move on. The key is getting new leaf packs and quality shocks or the best shocks you can afford.

Why don't you google "roughcountry" and actually look at the site? I tell you everything you need to know.
http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_3x.html took me less than a minute. You will want the 609.95 price with full leafs.
Look I even found a number for you to call. 1-800-222-7023

Look around. A link was already given. Don't ask us to do everything for you
