Default 1999 XJ Sport Vacuum line

I have a vacuum canister ball under the front bumper. That line is broken after about a foot. I can’t find where in the engine compartment it should be connected to does anybody know

You should have a hard plastic line running along the inner fender to the right of your picture that we can't see.
If you have cruise control it would be "teed" in for the actuator.
Goes all the way to the firewall and around to the intake manifold side I believe. Would have to look to see exactly where on my Jeep.

Default Vacuum line from bumper canister- where should it attach to?

Pic 1- broken line to nowhere from bumper canister.
Pic 2- T at firewall with lines attached
Pic 3- CC unit with line attached.

If I were to trace the broken line from the vacuum canister under the bumper, where exactly would it go? Does anyone have the schematic diagram or a picture?

Compare my shot of your cruise control picture to yours.
Is there a "T" on the gray part by the tape on the loom to the left of the PDC?

Is that a "T" connector running from the cc actuator? Towards the bottom left of your picture? If so, that is what I am missing. My line runs straight into the actuator. The broken line from the vacuum canister is just out there in no man's land. So probably the "T" broke and somebody, maybe me, just plugged the main hose right into the hose from the actuator.

I got a "T" and connected the vacuum canister back up.

Nothing seems to work better or worse than before but at least every hose is connected.

The "T" is in the line running from the vacuum ball to the firewall.
The short vacuum line from the actuator is spliced in.
I tried to circle the line in what so you could see it.

Thanks. I replicated that setup so now everything is hooked up. Thanks again.

Default Broken vac line near T

Found my leak. The hose going thru the firewall had broken where it curves back into the actuator/one way valve. I’ve gotten the old line out of the connector and fed the remaining line back in, secured with clear silicone adhesive (keeping fingers crossed). How do others repair this line? Pic is my broken line.

That's the vacuum source for the HVAC system. I'm guessing you got heat only out the defroster.

That white-ish disk that plugs into the T coupler is a check valve. Did you reconnect the hose into that or just into the T?

Do your vents work now?

Yes. I reconnected vac line by removing the short piece from the rubber connector. However, silicone adhesive didn’t stick to the vinyl vac line, so I used a little JB Weld plastic epoxy this morning and that seems to have done the trick. Vents change properly now. I’m sure there’s a simpler method but it works and should stick for another 20+ years.
