1999 aw4 torqes bolts on bellhousing

Anyone know what size or have a chart fir the inverted torqes bolts on the bellhousing to thw block? Doing a transplant for 4x4 and I need ti know exactly what size socket I need so I can buy it if I dont have it ahead of time.

They are E12 torx. Replace them with a standard flanged head hex and throw those E12s into the trash.

Here you go. See post #10. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/bel...-bolts-175825/

I think torque on those bolts is 28-30ft-lbs? I think.

Honestly, I like that they are e torx. Never had a problem getting them out or back in. In fact I feel like the socket holds the bolt better then a normal hex head does.

Good luck with those. Use several long extensions and a ujoint. I put some electrical tape on the ujoint so it still flexes but doesn't flop around. Drop the transmission mount to drop the rear of the trans down to get a better angle on those bolts. If you replace them with regular head bolts, then you have a chance at getting them off/on from above vs. underneath with the extensions.

I was actually thinking about this the other day and came to the same conclusion as you; makes for an easier removal if you have the torx sockets. I ended up keeping mine
