Default 1998 jeep cherokee heat

hello, i have a 1998 jeep cherokee sport. i havent had heat in my jeep for over a year. shop said they thought it was heater control unit. i installed one tuesday i got at the salvage yard. no heat at all. no blowing anything cold or hot. Yesterday on my drive home from work i noticed a little warmth. i had it on 4 and i felt some heat blowing from defrost. not alot but maybe a 2. the heat stops as soon as i stop at a stop sign or light. i had changed the blower motor resister a few months before the heat stopped a year ago so not sure if i should replace that again. any ideas please.

you could with a multimeter check for voltage at the blower motor connector, see what you find there if you have voltage there its most likely the blow motor failure or the connector.

i do also have a antifreeze smell when the heat is on but no leaking anywhere that i can see. i looked at the other thread you posted. I will check under my dash in the car for that. i have no heat when the car is sitting. only when i am driving it.

Doesn't take much of a leak in the heater core to get that coolant smell so you still may have a leak. After the vehicle is hot feel both heater hoses and see how hot they are.

i dont know if this will help but the last time i changed the blower resistor, the mechanic said nothing happened when he put it in but later i was driving and the heat would pop on occassionally after going over a bump.
