I was driving down I5 going to work and I have always had a small lifter tick. Well cruising 70-75 i noticed the tick getting a little louder after bout 10 minutes on freeway. Got louder and louder and I noticed I was losing power and I started getting over from left lane started smelling oil burning and seeing some smoke I pulled over and it died on the side of the freeway once it cooled it turned on and ran but really really rough. I have a video of it right after I got out and opened hood but it won't let me attach the file. Please any help would be tremendous help!

Lost a ring maybe and started burning oil? Im only guessing here. What color was the smoke?

Check the compression.

there a quite a lot of even recent threads on potential lifter failure...I would use the "advanced search" feature and have a read up (I think there is some one Youtube as well)

listening with a stethoscope, then performing a compression test, then removing the valve cover to inspect for any other possibilities is all I can suggest

If the lifter, or other internal part is failed, once again their are many searchable threads that will explain in great detail the process to identify and make repairs
