Post 1996 cherokee 4.0 staight 6. number 1 cylinder not firing

i recently bought a used cherokee. had bad PCU changed that and started right up but was only running on 5 cyl, so i changed the cap, rotar, plugs, and wires. when that didnt work i changed the timing chain and gears, still number 1 not firing. ive checked and the plug will spark on the block and the injector is spraying fuel. both o2 sensor wires were cut by previous owner and it smells like the catalytic converter is going out could either of these be the cause. any help would be nice

You need to do a compression test on the #1 cylinder.

There's your problem Brother. Anything less than 90-95 and it ain't gonna fire.
