1995 XJ Sticking Accelerator - Advice
New to DIY vehicle maintenance but here goes:
I've got a 1995 KJ with a sticky accelerator. It seems that the spring of the throttle assembly won't rebound to a closed position once the pedal has been pushed past a certain point. I wonder if it is just a matter of lubricating the spring or cleaning/replacing it. I've read elsewhere that the spring is not intended to be lubricated and should only be cleaned or replaced. Any advice out there?

Old fart with a wrench
Replace the throttle cable. Internal strands of the cable are snapped and binding on the cover sheath. This used to happen quite often when they first started using cable throttles. The first I remember was late 70's GM products. To prove this disconnect the cable at the throttle body and push/pull it by hand. You should be able to feel it stick.
