1995 XJ Stalling Issue
First, I am at work and the XJ is not here, being driven by my daughter.
It is driven daily and since last Wednesday it has stalled three times.
Stall #1 - while pulling into parking lot slowing downfrom travel speed XJ stalled.
Stall #2 & 3 - while sitting at a redlight XJ stalled twice. XJ obviously at idle.
In all i stances the XJ restarted without issue.
I will attempt to pull codes but now I am looking for ideas on where to look.
Thanks

That could be from many things like carbon buildup, dirty spark plugs, injectors
I would just do a tuneup, this is probably a dumb question but how old is the gas in it?

Seeing as it is a daily driver I doubt fuel would be an issue.
I'll probably do the tuneup tomorrow, i know i have at least two kits with rotor, cap, plugs and even wire.
Gonna check and clean what I can think of.
Not what i had planned for Sunday but that's how it goes.

It could be your crankshaft sensor, I had the same issue on my 93 and 94. It would just turn off and then start right back up. It seems to be a pretty common issue from what I've read on the forum.
Hope this helps and good luck.

Replacing tuneup hardware never a bad idea.
A marginal battery can create a stalling symptom. And yes, you can have a battery strong enough to start the engine, but marginal enough to give the engine management system fits and create stalling.
A very common cause is a failing crankshaft position sensor. It is the #1 sensor failure on the 4.0 Without the input signal from that sensor to the computer, you will not have spark and you will not have fuel going TO the injectors. The computer doesn't think the engine is turning, so it turns those things off.....
If you end up buying one of these, buy it from Jeep. Plenty of issues with some (not all) aftermarket crank sensors. Well worth the extra money to buy a Jeep part here.

Looks almost like it would be close to where the clutch slave cylinder is on a stick shift unit.
I now work at a dealership that has JEEP so I will buy the sensor on Monday.
Hope the old one holds until my next day off, Thursday.
Or i might just as what they would charge me to have them put it in.

Is there a procedure to test the CPS in the vehicle, or would it be difficult to test what seems to be intmittent failure.

one thing that can be done is check the wires for bare spots that could be makeing contact with the engine/head causing stall issue here how to testhttps://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/testing-cps-5563/
