I have recently bought a 1995 Jeep Cherokee Sport and I have noticed that the Stock radio does not work 100% properly AM radio works fine but FM only works only on FM2 and very rarely most of the time it is just static and when it does work it seems like it needs to be warm outside which seems strange. I have already taken it out and checked all the connections to the radio and that doesn't seem to be the problem and I am wondering if it is the radio itself or something else with the Jeep and I am wondering how to go about fixing the problem I dont want to replace the radio unless I can get a direct replacement or something that doesn't require me to cut up the wiring harness. Any input is appreciated thank you.

Have you checked the antenna wire? there is a connection in the passenger side kick panel that comes apart sometimes.

What Garrett said..I had to repair the antenna lead behind the kick panel..

just checked the antenna lead behind the kick panel and that didn't seem to be the problem so now i guess i will need to get a new radio.
