Default 1994 Cherokee leaking after rear main seal replacement and oil pan gasket change

hey guys I recently did a rear main seal replacement I did all the steps I took them out a punch and I popped them in correctly I even lubed them up , I torqued the bolts down to 80 ft /lbs but for some reason it leaked some oil so I re did the oil pan gasket and this second time around it leaked more . Any ideas ?as to what it might be ?

Did you put some silicon where the 2- piece seal comes together?

You torqued the oil pan bolts to 80 ft /lbs?? That doesn't sound right to me.. maybe 80 in/lbs... use a one piece gasket

Sorry man, that's gotta suck! I guess you must know but gotta mention; the O rings on the oil filter adapter harden, then the leak mimics a bad rear main. Oil blows back and drips right there.

+1
Oil can also flow out of a leaky valve cover gasket right down the back of the block. Clean it up good enough so you can positively locate the source of the leak(s).

**** runs downhill ! Start from the top and work down. Have you confirmed where it's coming from? Flashlight, at night underneath while running. Look up in between the flywheel and rear main. I ruined my first RMS by scraping off a small piece just before it was totally pushed in !!! The piece fell on my shirt, only reason I caught it ! Drove it out right then, went and got another !!! Lessons learned!!!
