1993 Cherokee not getting coolant to Head
I recently bought a 1993 Jeep Cherokee. It overheats. I removed the thermostat to check if it was properly working. I added coolant but there was no trace of it in the head. It was bone dry. I could let it idel all Day and it would no overheat but when I drove it would push coolant out the overflow. Any suggestions? What could be causing This.

clogged radiator and/or bad water pump is my best guess.....best thing you can do for your xj is maintain the coolant system.

your head gaskets are toast. that is the only way to pressurize your degas bottle to that extent.

Dont know if its what causing you problem but my buddies 92 was having cooling issues. New water pump, radiator, tranny cooler, thermostat, fan clutch.....Finally gave up on it and sold it. Guy who bought pulled the head and all the water ports were clogged up with what looks like stop leak gunk. My buddy only owned it a couple years and never put that stuff in there.
Guy cleaned the head, replaced the gasket and she runs right at 210 now. |
