1993 to 1998 Swap
i just picked up a 1993 XJ everything on it is great except the body is in pretty rough shape. I have an opportunity to pick up a 1998 2wd XJ for $500 that was flooded in Harvey so it does not run. The body on it is totally solid and so is the paint. My question is would a complete driveline swap between the two be possible?

A drivetrain swap is possible but, if the 98 was flooded most of the electronics are probably ruined and they are different from the 96 and older body style. I guess you could just swap the dash, electronics, wiring harness and everything else in from your 93 but that would be a major job.

Well the vehicle wasn’t totally submerged so I suppose that is a plus as far as electronics goes.
Why do you say the dash would have to be swapped over? Or do you mean just the instrument cluster?

I thought about it a little more and I’d rather just stick with a vehicle that I know runs “properly” and repair the few rust spots. I appreciate the response!
