92 Cherokee Larado only starts if you turn on ignition but do not crank it, then keep ignition switched on for 15 to 20 minutes. Then turn ignition off then back on, if check engine and maintenance lights come on, crank engine until it starts. I'm not tech savy but have minor mechinical skills. Any input would be appreciated. Prior to arriving at this start process, changed ignition coil, plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor and fuel filter. Additionally, engines just cranks if you simply try to start without following above procedures? Thanks in advance for any ideas/help.

Interesting ritual but thats alot more than I do, I just turn the key no Houcus Pocus, secret dance, or anything bizarre.

Lets start with the easy stuff, whats missing spark or fuel?

generally if your CEL does not come on at "key on" indicates a computer problem. Could also be ignition switch going bad not powering the circuit for the computer. Or Bad ground. Check/clean/replace all the engine grounds as needed...then check back.

1st sorry for the slow response to your help/advice. Two things, family biz and secondary vehicle. I checked what i believe to be the grounds, not sure if i checked the right things, (starter, fuel pump,coil,and distributor gnds. ) all seemed ok except needed cleaning a bit. Vehicle is getting gas but no spark except as stated before in start up process. Once started vehicle runs fine.
