1991 jeep cherokee limited oil pressure low?
When I am driving the guage is in the middle, pointing at 3. Sometimes the needle on the guage will point to between 1.5 and 3.

The oil pressure should be no lower than 13 psi IIRC. On the U.S. gauges, the pressure generally is around 20-ish on hot idle (so about 1/3 on the gauge) and under load is around 60-ish (or about 2/3 on the gauge.
I'd guess 1.5 is about 15 psi and 3 is about 30.
So you're on the low side, but it sounds like you're "in spec".
If you're worried about it, check it with a mechanical gauge - the dash gauge is not nearly as accurate.
