1991 Cherokee Laredo 4.0 Ticking Noise, Please Help
 

Hey Guys, for a while now I've been wondering about my Jeep. I have read on this forum and many other forums and sites that It was common for the 4.0 to have a tick relative to a diesel, but I'm not sure If my tick is bad or not, reading some comments on a few youtube videos tended to scare me. Anyways, It has 316,000 miles on it, tranny has been rebuilt before I bought it. I'm quite sure the ticking wasn't there when I bought it aside from the fan hitting the shroud. The ticking noise seems to get louder when I'm full on oil. I guess I wouldn't exactly call it a tick or a knock, it sounds more like a spewing noise as if you were to spit water through your teeth(if that describes it well). If any of you have had any similar problems, can you please let me know! I can upload a video if necessary.

Yeah, a video would help greatly.

Shine a light into the oil filler hole and see how sludgy it is in there.

What brand of oil filter are you using?

BTW, you made me spit water through my teeth!!!
