1990 XJ Ballast Resistor Replacement
My XJ needs a new fuel pump ballast resistor. It's a 1990 Laredo. I know where the part is and have found it online, but I need to know if I can also order the connectors for it, because one of them is melted looking. Has anyone replaced those before? Or should I just bypass it altogether?

don't bypass it. ballast resistors are very cheap and easy to find. most parts stores will have them. i've used ford ballast resistors before and keep a few spares in my glove box. i think they were around 9 dollars each, and that's up here in canada, so probably 5 bux down there.
as for the connector, you can get away with just crimping on a spade connector.

I would bypass it. It's only there to reduce fuel pump noise.
You probably won't even notice the increase in noise, and it can never fail again..............

I know it just decreases the voltage to the pump, so is my car dying when it gets disconnected just because the current is cut off?
