1990 Renix. Volvo/Bosch 19# 280-155-746 injector swap
2 Attachment(s)
THESE WOULD BE FOR 87-90 RENIX JEEPS ONLY
4.0 Auto. I swapped the stock Simmons Deka to Bosch # 280 155 703, 23 Lb/Hr. injectors last year. Supper. About 18 hwy. MPG at 270,000 miles!. But!, however long it's too cold to go into "closed loop", 23 Lbs/hr is too much fuel at a "default pulse width", set for 18.6 Lbs/hr. I'm gettin' about 13 MPG doing allot of 25 mile trips. Being rich won't help it warm up any faster. (evaporating liquid sucks up heat). So. (on a tip from our most popular injector vender), I found that the Bosch # 280 155 746 #19 Lb, (with the clip slot, (unlike the 700's)), are plug and play, and at the moment seem golden. It idles and runs smooth as ever! I might be biased, but they might feel better than the 703's. I did an acceleration test before I pulled the 703's, floored it for 10 seconds at 30 mph on steep hill. Hit 35. Same spot, same hill, with the 746's, I actually saw 36 MPH. So test error? Anyway I doubt they are worse. So now I'm gonna' run a couple of tanks, (filling the same way, parked in the same spot, at the same Shell pump), and see if that 13 MPG improves with the 746's. Then I will swap in the OEM T-stat. Added>> The relatively new t-stat does hold 195*, checked with a probe, but Cruiser says the OEM T-stat will get there faster, and it goes to closed loop quickly. Also 5-90 posted the heated "HEGO" 02 sensor will put it in closed loop pretty quick anyway. So my thanks to you both, (hope I got that right). I'll post what I see. 13 MPG leaves plenty of room for improvement! I get just over 16 ohm's from both the Siemens and the 746, 12.2 on the 703's. My thanks to Ebay vendor zipaquio for a supper deal. Yea, two of six were "sticky" but hey, used "as is", and they freed up. http://www.ebay.com/itm/281064226718?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p398 4.m1439.l2649 OK the above link is dead. was $36 IIRC for my set.. |
Your injector harness clips are falling off.
FYI Flintstone. factory stat 83501426AC: 28* ambient temp. Within 5 minutes of driving and 2 miles travelled on flat road, my coolant temp was at 195*. |

(to be mounted at 12:00) ($22.75) *I'm not heating that fast. Also my first 3 miles descend 1,500 feet. (pretty steep gravel) You missed something. Wheres Waldo? |

Just ordered a set of injectors from zipaquio on eBay then popped over to Bonanza.com and ordered new caps & o-rings set.

Yesterday a buddy who drives for me sometimes said he thought the Jeep ran smoother as well. It'll be a good while before I can take a stab at figuring mileage. I'm no expert but that set looks fine. I didn't even take mine apart, don't know how! |
028 150 943 Might be 19 Lbs/Hr. There are "clip nut" slots. They are 14 ohm, stock is 16.
Bingo. Here it is. Bosch injector flow rates. Divide CC's by (about)10.5 to get Lbs. http://www.polog40.co.uk/article_injector_table.php |
Any update on your fuel mileage ?
|
"don't get around much any more" was a song lyric. Nope! In 70 miles it went from pegged down to the full mark is all I've got. Trying to earn $ for property tax from people saving there $ for property tax sucks! Work will pick up.

105 miles, and a bit over 3/4 tank. MAN! I gotta say. Smooth as warm butter. My job today was a ways up a winding highway along the Smith River. It really feels great. I'm about to see if I can balance a nickel on the valve cover!
I'm waiting to see the actual mileage before I suggest everyone with a Renix consider trying them, but shoot, those of you who went to 703 and said "Wow", there is yet another "Wow" out there! |
Hmm which wow... Should I do...
