Default wiggle off the line.

When I first hit the gas to get moving I get a wiggle in the front end. I just had my u joints done not long ago. I'm thinking motor mounts but maybe its the exhaust shaking? All the hangers are attached on the exhaust pipe. 96 xj, 4.0 auto. If I hit the gas hard I don't feel the wiggle.

also, if I take off really slowly then I dont get the wiggle. It feels like the motor is shaking back and forth for a second or maybe the exhaust is causing it but you can feel it in the whole jeep and my home made cup holder shakes back and forth. Its like there is something heavy moving from side to side pretty fast. could it be the drive shaft angles or the u joints? You guys always help me out so if anyone can tell me what would cause a wobble like that, I would be greatful. the steering was checked and we could see no play when turning the steering wheel back and fourth while the jeep was on the ground. we checked the track bar and all the steering components. Could it be the transmision? and if you can say the tranny or transfer case is not the problem then that would help. if this is not enough info then tell me and I can put a vid of the whole thing. I do notice the tires collect a lot of small rocks and I know that throws the wheels out of ballance but I wouldnt think that would be related. Am I wrong?
thanks and sorry for typing a novel.

U-Joints go out all the time. If I had anything wiggling on acceleration, I would check mine. Something to do anyway. And welcome by the way! Good luck

I know the shudder your talking about.

My wifes auto TJ does it. I fear its trans related honestly, however I'm not sire on that.

On accel only try u-joints
5 minutes to pull the shaft
Takes an hour and costs $20 for both of the joints in the rear shaft
Simple and will probably fix it
Did mine and my roomates and more than half of the endcaps were just full of rust. No needle bearings or grease, at all.
And mine barely wobbled at all and only under accel.

Can I just say this, and I know coming from a girl, ya'll are gonna think ohhh gawd! But my YJ does this I thought Motor mounts, transmission issue, but I realized oil was just a bit low, I added oil and it stoped, so now every time he wiggle wobbles I check his oil and sure enuff he is low, not low low, where it says add, its still above safe line, but low, anyhow I add half a quart or so and wiggles are gone..... He is a 91 yj, not sure if that has anything to do with it, but... That cures my jeep of the wiggles

My 90 auto does the same. My problem is the bolts for the cross member to the trans. The bolts fell out or broke off. I have not really spent anytime with it because it sits in my backyard as a back up vehicle.

I know the issue with my wifes truck isnt low oil.

Maybe u joints, but it takes more than 5 min to pull an axle shaft...
