Im about to buy a 1990 jeep cherokee larado. But it doesnt seem to idle. It will start up fine but it doesnt idle. Sometimes it will idle just fine, but when you put into gear and try to drive off, it dies. Then its hard to get it started. Anybody got any good ideas on what mifgt be wroung with it?

Make sure all your vacume lines are good. Try pulling your idle air control valve off and spraying it out with carb cleaner. I've got a 90 and it started running at 3000 rpm at idle and I had to tap on the IAC valve to break it loose and make it work again.

Also try High quality fuel injector cleaner. Water remover in gas tank.
New spark plugs affect idle. Positive if done with care negative and the parts are good.

try spraying brake cleaner in the intake while it's idling. if it idles good then you have a fuel problem. i have a 90 cherokee pioneer and mine was doing the same exact thing. i changed the filter and poured seafoam down the intake then in the tank. that worked for about 3 days then it quit running all together. i dropped the tank and found that the 3 inch rubber fuel line elbow that connects the pump to the metal fuel line was beyond destroyed. i changed that 50 cent hose and it's been running fine ever since. if you try the seafoam you pour it into the intake with the engine running till it stalls out and dies. let it sit for about 10 minutes then fire it up but make sure you do it in an open area. it's gonna smoke like a train!!! give it a shot and shoot me a message if you make progress or have any other questions.
