Your computer has nothing at all to do with the lights. NOTHING. You could smash it with a sledgehammer and it would not bother your lights.

Stop thinking about the computer and start doing basic troubleshooting.

Do you own a voltmeter? Test light?

As other have said, there's no "Body Control Module" in these Jeeps that controls lights. If you've changed the headlamp switch, then I would look for grounding issues. Also try removing turn signal bulbs and head lamp bulbs and see if it suddently comes alive. Sometimes the sockets short circuit. Do you have brake lights when you step on the brake pedal?

Just a little. Google can help with that.

A guy I know has what looks like the truck sideview mirrors on his 88 XJ. He hasn't mentioned any problem with his lights though. :) :)

Richard - if you're not a troll, where you are at (from what I can see) is that you do NOT have a computer problem and the general consensus seems to be you need to start checking wiring. Start with some research, wiring diagrams etc and if you need help with this, I would recommend clearly asking specific questions re: where you're stuck.

If you are a troll - you're very bad at it and might want to consider another hobby.

Power needs to be confirmed going into switch as well as coming out.

I had early 70s vintage Chevy truck side mirrors (the stock, small, useless-on-a-truck mirrors of that day) on a Datsun Roadster. Sounds crazy, but it actually looked good, and my view was far better than I had with the stock Roadster mirror. ("Mirror". Singular. None on the passenger side!)

Oddly enough, I did not have any problems with my lights. Really!

I still lie awake at nights trying to understand that. ;)

Thanks for posting the pic of the 85 Ford. I have a set of mirrors for that vintage Ford that I picked up at a swap meet. I was going to put them on the Wagoneer but hate to pull of the power mirrors.

PatHenry 05-28-2018 09:51 PM

The mirrors don't look terrible on this guy's Jeep, aside from the rust around the bolts - but they sort of blend in with the rest of it. It's not in great shape (and that's being kind).

Personally I like the old school mirrors, the 97+ mirrors look good as well and seem a bit more useful than the smaller ones. Mine are manual and that's how I like it. :)
