Default 1989 jeep Cherokee cruise control

i have a 1989 jeep Cherokee Lerado with a cruise control feature and i never knew this when i got it but it doesn't work like anything else so can anyone help me out i have no idea how cruise control works or why it would go out, ive heard it could be a vacuum issue or electrical but is there any way to tell for sure?

I'd start with troubleshooting it by the service manual and go from there. You'll need a reasonable multi meter and a hand vacume pump / hand vacume brake bleeder.
It's unlikely that your controller is toast. If by some errant chance it is, PM me I have a couple spares in the box o' goodness.
