Wow, not expecting that. You are missing a lot of large chunks of metal. Was there oil in it? im not sure if you were actually pumping oil to the wheel bearings in your scenario . Everything in that rear is now suspect. Who puts a diff like that hat back into a truck? What good is a ring gear without the matching pinion? Replaced the ring gear only on an old Monte in my younger days.....growld and vibrated like the devil....replaced the whole rear two days later

Looks like I found the problem with the rear differential. Somebody was in there and removed some parts... Not sure yet what's going on with the front one. Will investigate it later. Will probably remove the front drive shaft for now, and get the rear axle fixed or replaced to get 2WD working. This is a Dana 35, right? If I wind up replacing with a 44, what year parts cars should I be looking at for a whole assembly?
