1988 cherokee 4.0 engine noise

1988 cherokee 4.0 engine noise
I have a1988 Cherokee with a new jasper engine so I was told by the previous owner still has the tags on it it makes a knocking sound when cranking and right after it starts then goes away after rev it up I am thinking flex plate

Yeah the Cherokee is a common vehicle around here everyone has one or has had one I bought it and hadn't heard it run before it had a bad fuel pump and they said it had some lifter noise but that is no lifter and it has been sitting about 3 years
