Default 1987 XJ Rewiring non-modified headlights/parking lights, help!

Pretty new to repairing my vehicle myself, so bare with me. 😂

The guy that owned this XJ before me pretty much THOUGHT he knew what he was doing.

Closer inspection shows overuse of electric tape, some zip ties, a hole in the floorboard, and some rather silly... glitches throughout the vehicle. 🙄 And by silly I mean, I'm a newb and I can spot it. Check out my other posts for other... nonsense.

Anyway. Headlights, here's the deal:
Initially we thought the lightbulb was out on one, so we changed it. It wasn't. When we checked them, right bottom parking light was out, but blinker would work on that side (same bulb), on the left side, the parking light came on but it wouldn't blink when blinker was on (opposite problem to other side). When we turned on the flashers, they blinked, but not simultaneously. 😂😂😂

Fast forward a couple days, we go back to try to work on them, have not touched a single thing, but all of this is no longer an issue, except that one side parking light being "out"?????

Husband then did *SOMETHING* and now both parking lights are out completely. (He's not a car nor Jeep guy, thought this was correct. Apparently sees no issue with BOTH DASH INDICATORS BEING ON) Can tell by the electrical tape (*sigh*) that one has been rewired, but the other is in its stock housing, which probably doesn't mean much, but figured I'd include that.

Mayday. Please Assist. 😂😂😂😂😂
