1987 Jeep Cherokee Laredo Barn Find Video - Part 2
Well, here is what I've done so far:
Here is the video of me trying to start her up.
What do you think?
Fuel?
Spark?
Both?
Too much oil when I added to the rods?
One thing I did try was purging the fuel rod by pushing in on the Schrader valve after the attempted start. Nothing came out... TIA
- Siphoned old fuel out.
- Installed new fuel filter.
- Added small amount of Mystery Oil behind each plug. (Week ago.)
- Added 5gal fresh fuel with small bottle of Lucas treatment.
- All new spark plugs, gaped to 0.035.
- Replaced valve cover gasket and painted cover.
- Added small amount of oil (teaspoon maybe) where each rod goes down from the top.
- Changed oil and filter.
- installed new ignition cylinder.

Besides Cruisers 1-5, it just takes a minute to check the CPS, that said...
There is a ceramic ballast resistor on the drivers inner fender near the air cleaner, on 88-90. Power goes to the front, and a few volts less goes out the rear, directly to the fuel pump. You can bypass that resistor permanently, or temporarily for trouble shooting. Do you hear the pump run for about a second when you first turn the ign. on?
Not sure when, or even if they added them during 87.
There is a diagram in my sig. that shows the fuel pump relay location. You could swap it with the AC relay if you like.....

Also, did we ever figure what this plug is for?
Here are some pics of the valves with the cover off... Any bad signs here? Or, do they look good?
Thanks guys!!!
