01 XJ 124 Amp Alternator replacement

I'm looking to replace my alt as it went bad but I cant seem to find the oem replacement anywhere. My build sheet says I have the 124 amp but everywhere I look they only offer a 117 amp. I have a 1000w sub box and 250w speakers system if it matters. The only place i see that offers something similar is Napa BSH AL6428X at 132 amp, but not sure if its a direct fit.

I know theres tons of info on this, but none of it covers the 124 amp alt. Im just trying to find the same alt to drop in and the only stores around me are Napa, AutoZone, or advanced auto. so will the napa one be a direct bolt on?

pretty sure it's the same bolt pattern just check the plug connectors as they were different certain years.

If you were interested in upgrading wires you can also do a 136 amp zj alternator that fits or a 160 amp Durango alternator that fits after grinding down the bracket. A member here sells the wiring upgrade in the selling section

Thanks guys. I went to my local Napa and they say it should fit but then warned me that they don't do refunds or return on ordered parts. I asked if its a direct fit again and they can't guarantee it will fit 100%. I walked out and now looking for more options. Looking to buy one local just to make it easier in case of warrantee issues but its becoming a problem

Maybe what I am going to do might help. There is a place in my area that rebuilds alternators. Pretty much the go to guy in the area. I want a higher amp alt. He says that he can maybe up the amps in a stock '00 alt to as much as 150 amps. So I grabbed one out of the boneyard for him to rebuild. On the list of things to do. A battery cable upgrade will also happen at the same. Now I know you can do the Grand Cherokee or Durango swap. And that grinding the bracket is no big deal. But frankly I want a straight bolt. So if you can find a place in your area that does this it keeps it local for any issues, will obviously be a direct bolt in, and you get what you want.

This is exactly what I was going to say. In my area, there are 3 good shops with great reputations rebuilding alternators and starters. One of them does the generators for my buddy's 51 Pontiac.
