01 Cherokee Running Hot/Overheating

Hello,

I have an 01 Cherokee Sport, which, as the title states, seems to be running hot/overheating. I put in Coolant into the bucket (?) and it leaks out by the end of next day. Not a heavy leak, but a decent drip when the engine is off. When poored directly into radiator, doesn't bubble when engine is on, but it does help bring down temp for about 2 weeks, but still leaks out front. Sweet smell noticable occasionally. Radiator was replaced approx 2 yrs ago.

Any help greatly appreciated!

PS - A/C doesn't work either, not sure if this has any bearing on issue.

You difinatly want to fix this before you overheat it and crack your head. 2000 and 2001 are know for cracked heads

I'm willing to bet your rad or water pump is leaking and need replacing. yea the rad only 2 years old but if its a cheap one, thats all they last

Thank you!

Where can I find the Water Pump?

See the pulley in the middle with 4 bolts on it, thats the water pump. If you take a mirror or climb underneath the jeep after you've been driving and look at the bottom of the water pump. Theres alittle hole called the weep hole and this leaks when the pump is going bad and needs replacing

If the coolant leaks more on the passenger side then its probably the radiator

That's SO helpful!

I just took a look underneath and it was leaking from the center, and it looked like it was coming from that same piece. How difficult to replace on own?

Thank you so much!

Doesn't take more than a couple hours at most. Alot of people replace the thermostat while they're at it. Unless you've just recently replaced it. My thermostat was junk when I replaced my water pump just after buying my jeep.
