It happens to me too, it is a widespread virus, not specific to this site.

This really sounds like a virus or adware on your computer but it's hard to be sure since a few other people are seeing the same thing. It hasn't happened to me yet so I can't tell. We do have anti-virus running on this server and it's not picking up anything.

I'll ask around and see if anyone knows what the cause is. This is a new one to me.

OK, I got one lead that I'm going to check on. Can you tell me... is it always when you view a thread that the issue shows up or on other pages too?

Thanks

One last favor. Could you tell me when this started? I want to revert the files on the server to before the issue started to see if that helps.

Thanks.

Nathan I also have a few ideas as I donor feel it's the site. If someone affected by this has yahoo or google talk and is willing to work with me I bet we can solve this. Just drop me a pm or post up.

If you do see it happen again.. please PM me the thread you were looking at so I can see if a particular post is the problem.

Thanks.

use firefox + adblock. You can selectively block any images/popups/pages that you want to.

Unfortunately it sounds to me like you've already got some adware. I've been seeing a lot of this kind lately. Windows Defender seems to take care of it pretty good... I usually use malwarebytes, but the crap that I've been seeing disables MB as soon as it's installed.

Default Security Tool Virus

Last week I picked up this virus called "Security Tool". It is widespread. It showed up on my work PC and laptop. Every 30 seconds or so, or when you go to a different page or reboot...it pops up.

This thing is a beeaatch to get rid of but i KILLED it!!

Here is a link with several ways to get rid of it. Scroll down a little and there is a screen shot of what the virus looks like.

http://www.softsailor.com/how-to/872...val-guide.html

Hope this helps.

I deal with this kind of stuff everyday......you proly have a browser hijacker trojan or a virus.......go to download.com (it's a very reputable place to download) get the free "avg antivirus" and "spybot search and destroy" and run them.....I have the paid versions but the free versions work just fine for basic stuff. You most likely visited a site that gets paid per install or it pigged backed on a file you downloaded. It's just a scam so they make a sale on a program that is BS. Malwarebytes is also a decent free program you can try.
