Figured I'd put this up as a yay or nay. On a Dodge Neon forum I'm on, everyone lists the last 6 digits of their VIN number, and we grouped everyone by year to see if we had any siblings off the assembly line that made their way to the forum as users vehicles.

Surprisingly, for Dodge Neons, we had a few matches, and it was cool to see vehicles that had been build right behind one another, and where they ended up, how they were modded and the story behind them.

The reason I post this first as a thought is because it'd require some heavy moderation, not only keeping track of 17 years of XJ's, but the first post was the official list, and had to be maintained from time to time.

The list was like this, year, then the last 6 of the vin, followed by the username
i.e-

1997

316513 - skittlemcgee
654154 - user2342
798412 - soand so

1998

151680 - neon12
168487 - smoke20
168488 - slowfourdoor


1999

098414 - jamminneon

etc etc etc....

Just a thought, and we have a load of die hard XJ'ers, I'd be willing to bet we'd see some good matches. It really was alot of fun.

Well like I said, I dont wanna just jump into doing it yet, it'd be alot to update, and it'd have to be watched over every now and then, just asking the mods/admin what they think, and get insight from the other users.

Sounds like a ton of work to me. I love the idea, but I would not want to spend the time to moderate it, but we can see what the others say...

there is something like that on comancheclub. its cool. someone went to the junkyard and spotted a MJ. it was 38 away from my vin. same red Eliminator too.

It's be a lot of work, but I think it's be worth it to see just how close some of our XJ's are to each other.

If someone wants to do it start a thread in cherokee chat and move on. I have no desire to do it nor do I want to moderate it. So I'll make you all a deal it stays clean and idiots keep their mouths shut and it stays. The first time someone gets out of hand it goes bye and does not return. Deal?

I'd be willing to take on the daunting task. It'll keep me active. I have no life.

Am I allowed to make it say that if you post anything other then the year of your XJ and the last 6 of the VIN, you will be shot on sight?

Problem is I can't moderate, nor would I want to. I think I'll be pretty decent with keeping everyone in line.

I don't have an XJ anymore , but I like the idea.
