One of the things that has bugged me for a while but is not a really big deal.

New Posts. Lets say I review a thread and then post in it. THen for some reason I leave the site for a few minutes and come back. I am logged in and the post I just posted in shows new post still (you know highlighted with the CF logo) The last post is still My posts. Kind of silly and irritating because it is showing new posts even though I made the last post.

There is a flaw in the system.

The other threads I looked at will no longer show new posts just the one I posted in!

Sounds like it is related to your computer. Mine refreshes after I post in a thread. I just click on the thread area like Cherokee Chat and I will see that my last post in a particular thread is still the last post and that no one has posted after me.

If my last post happens to come up as the first listing on a next page of replies to the thread it shows as a New Post. That's the only similar occurrence I can think of.

Mine does this too, and on multiple PCs, so I don't think that it's PC related. I have noticed this happening now for a little while, not sure how long though.

Yep does it to me as well. I don't know if it's an issue with the forum software or what http server or what. I haven't really kept track on any other sites that run VB forum software since I don't really post on them much at all.

Stryker does NAXJA do this to you?

I'll look through the settings and see if I can find anything that might cause this.

There are two different settings for the new posts search. One is cookie based and the other is database driven. We use the cookie based one so if you log out it looses track of what you have or have not viewed. The database version can actually get annoying to me because a thread always shows up as unread forever until you read it. There are a lot of threads that I just don't want to look at and it's annoying to have to click on it to make it go away.
I usually use "Today's Posts" when searching anyways so I can always see recent posts no matter if my cookie has expired or not.

Is this something that just started to be an issue on this site for you or has it always been this way? Because nothing has changed.

If it is based on cookies then if someone is having an issue log out manually and it will reset your cookies. I periodically log out manually just to reset my cookies for that reason although I haven't done that here in awhile.
