I have been on a few forums and they have a live chat that you can log onto.. I do not see that kind of feature on here... I think it would be a cool idea... might even help people trouble shoot problems in real time instead of waiting for a response...

X3, with maybe the option of one on one chat also. That way if someone had a question for you or you had one for them we could say "Hey Nimrod how did you secure your hula girl to your dash?"Without cluttering up the chat room.

Sorry live chat won't happen. Part of the nice thing about a forum is the posts stay where as with chat once closed it's gone. If we added one people would ask tech there and then it would never get documented. People would be rude and the we'd have yet another area to monitor and track. Way to much work to ever expect from volunteers. So won't happen on this site.

That makes total sense. The folks that don't search would just ask the same ol questions that have been documeted a million times

The other problem is you have a few hundred people all having different conversations and a ton of people adding in all the time. The security and server load issues alone are reason enough not to do it.

Reviving a dead thread, but I support this idea, however, a way to get around the server loading is to use a #mud client, independent servers, and for the most part, auto-censored. They also support private one-on-one chat within the main general chat.
